Prior to the 1982 World’s Fair held in Knoxville, an investor group obtained a franchise from the Hilton Hotel Corporation to place a convention hotel near the World’s Fair site. Simultaneously, the Knoxville Community Development Corporation (KCDC, an agency of the City) planned to construct a 450-car parking garage. LawlerWood was selected by both the groups to assemble the property within a city block and then be the Developer for both the Hotel and Parking Garage. The Hotel contains 325 rooms with full convention facilities.
