LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN
PROJECT NOTES: LawlerWood was selected through a national solicitation to privately own, finance, build and operate two mixed-use facilities totaling 550,000 s.f. at Y-12. The 2.5 year approval process involved the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Management and Budget, and Congress. Known as the Jack Case Center and New Hope Center, these state-of-the-art facilities contain professional level office, laboratory, medical, training, large auditorium, conference and meeting spaces for more than 1,500 employees. Infrastructure enables classified and unclassified work to be performed. The New Hope Center was only the ninth facility in Tennessee to earn a LEED designation from the USGB. Construction was completed four months ahead of schedule and under the approved $154M (current dollars) budget. LawlerWood's sister company manages the facilities with its own security cleared workforce.
